WPF/E for Windows & Mac and runs within all versions of IE and Firefox (including IE 7 & Firefox 2)

The war for Rich UI within browser has just started with the release of WPF/E (Windows Presentation Framework / Everywhere).

Yes, M$ released the Dec 06 Community Technology Preview of WPF/E which is just 1 MB of size competes directly with Flash. Also, the most compelling thing for Developers is they just need Notepad to develop in WPF/E, when compared to Flash s/w is required to develop Flash UI.

I feel WPF/E might overtake Flash in another 1 or 2yrs time. Because of Windows penetration and IE's 82% market share and the just released Windows Vista on Nov 30th which use the full version of WPF. These might be more compelling than the penetration of Flash plugin in desktops, which is stagerring 96%. M$ should not screw the WPF/E plugin by compramizing in security, so that people will install the plugin within any issues.

IE's 82% share: Yes, it got reduced to 82% from 92%, taken away by Firefox 1.5 and now 2.0, but still IE's growth is way ahead of Firefox growth rate of ~12%.

- Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 on Windows Vista
- Internet Explorer 6 and 7 and Firefox 1.5 and 2.0 on Windows XPSP2
